“Yes” or “No”, not “Yes, but …”

‘Yes’ is your commitment to do and want something. When you authentically say ‘Yes’ your mind , your emotions and your body are in sync and there is that fire of excitement, even if you have some doubts or trepidations about the idea you committed to. There is a pull, a drive towards something.

‘No’ is your commitment to your boundary, to your recognition of what you want and don’t want. When you say ‘No’ with conviction, your mind, your emotions and your body are in sync and there is that feeling of standing up for yourself, that surge of power.

‘Yes, but…’ means ‘Nothing’. It’s the Secret Dissembler’s twin from the “I can’t” typology. When you say ‘Yes, but …’ your mind, your emotions and your body are not aligned. They are going in different directions. And you get nothing, plus some guilt and confusion. You spend an enormous amount of time and energy churning wheels, only to loose credibility and traction in the end. Deep down you know what you want and don’t want.

Your mind is incredibly powerful. Even more so, if you give it clear directions – left, right, yes, no. I invite you to try what you can do when you authentically say “Yes” or “No”!

And before you say ‘yes, but …’, ‘yes, but …’ is not a contingency plan. There is a difference and your brain knows it.
