Shining -
with professional Wellbeing
“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
Paulo Coelho
Bring your best self to work.
During busy times. During disruptive times. During every day times.
How you manage your wellbeing at work plays a significant factor in your overall wellbeing, given you spend so much of your time at work. When you can manage and increase your wellbeing at work, you are promoting both your performance and job satisfaction. And when you are more satisfied and happier at work, your wellbeing and relationships outside of work improve as well.
“I’d like to thank Sonja for all of her hard work, mentoring and challenging of how we do things that has meant we have been able to improve as a team and in our delivery to our clients.”
When there are deadlines to meet, competing priorities to manage, meetings to attend, you want to appear calm, competent and confident. And inside you feel stressed, ticking off checklists, worrying about the next presentation or review, trying to remember to email someone.
Something is going to give.
Our default mode when we are busy and stressed is to put our head down and dig in, work harder, put in just another hour. But it’s actually counter-productive when our tank is empty. We are not productive at all. We make mistakes which require more work. But when we look after our wellbeing, we have the mental and emotional capacity to execute and shine. Without burning out.
Strategies for working in challenging times
Workplaces are complex and challenging. Even more so these days when work and life blur together. Working from home, days spent online and constantly available, home schooling or caring responsibilities. You don’t need me to tell you about the juggle. Or how long it’s been since you’ve even been able to take a breath. Let alone drink your coffee hot.
Managing our time is one thing. Managing ourselves is another.
We may not always realise how much emotional toll workplaces can take. But we experience and feel everything in our workplaces – fulfilment, failures, pride, embarrassment, eagerness, exhaustion, and many other challenges along the way.
When you shine, so do those around you
You bring all of yourself to work - your brain and your emotions. How you feel, drives your performance and your behaviour and has an impact on your job performance, decision making, creativity, teamwork, negotiations and leadership.
““Where do I begin to explain the compassion, health and overall wellbeing you ignite and inspire?” ”
When you are in a bad mood, you tend to be overly critical and analytical with a narrow attention and patience span.
Conversely, when you are in a good mood and well, you think more creatively and holistically, have a wide attention span and are open to possibilities.
You may not think you are showing emotion, but there’s a good chance you are - in your facial expression or body language. Emotions we don’t even realise we are feeling can influence our thoughts and behaviours. And our coworkers pick up on that.
When you choose to look after your wellbeing at work, you will start to feel and act from a position of emotional strength and confidence - you start to shine. And that is contagious.
““Sonja, you are in inspirational lady. Your attitude and zest for life are both qualities of yours that I admire, and I hope to be able to take and apply some of that to my own life.””
Truly I get it. For many years, I was driven by performance reviews. Put in all the hours. Stressed about everything. One night I couldn’t sleep at all because my numbers were out by 0.05%. Which was about the time I realised my drive for perfection was affecting my wellbeing and ultimately how I showed up at work - grumpy, impatient and terse.
I also realised that while I enjoyed my role, I wanted something that I found personally rewarding in the role that I had. I didn’t want more work or a promotion, I wanted fulfilment. So I became a mentor. And with that I began to thrive and shine.
What skills would help you shine at work?
For you, would shining at work mean improving focus and attention? Building greater stress resilience? Making more effective decisions? More creativity?
Or would it look like greater confidence in meetings? Increased emotional intelligence? Being more open-minded? Better collaboration?
On a more personal level, maybe having more self-confidence and the ability to articulate what you want out of your role will make you shine. Or being more comfortable with change and uncertainty.
This program is designed to meet you where you are. The one-on-one coaching program leverages your strengths and values and help you bring them to your work. By working within your strengths and helping you find joy and purpose in your work it can help reduce stress and avoid burnout.
Take the blueprint and make it yours

That means you realise what is truly important for your professional wellbeing. And you take it from there for the next sessions.
If you want to change one of the topics, or nominate something else you feel strongly about - excellent. You are taking the initiative and responsibility for how you want to shine.
