Embrace today - go out!

When I woke up this morning, I knew something was different. The light was different, the bird sounds were different, the scents were different. I pulled the curtains and even at 5:30 a.m. it was apparent - blue sky! No fog, no rain!

Many of you, like me, would have woken up to gray skies and fog for the last weeks and perhaps months. So waking up today was a revelation and an instant mood lifter.

I had my second cup of coffee on the veranda, taking in the sunlight and the endlessly high blue sky. I thought of all the things I should do and then decided no. Much better was “What can I do on this amazingly beautiful day?”

For weeks, I had been looking forward to a day like this. Am I going to do the same today as did on all the rainy and foggy days? Can I truly accept and make the most of this opportunity that I had been waiting for? More so, because I have no control over when a morning, a day like this will happen again in the near future (hello La Nina). Or will my (perceived) sense of responsibility (let’s be honest, it typically is to others), my life-long conditioning of “You should be doing this or that” (that’s what a good girl should do) drive me back to my desk?

I am grabbing this opportunity with both hands. I am going out - to feel the sun on my skin, breath the fresh air, see the world, feel alive.

What are you going to do?
